Central Texas I-35 Town

Townhouses & Duplexes in Troy, TX

Welcome to Troy, a small Bell County city on Interstate 35 between Waco and Temple, where a rural, family-centered setting meets direct access to Central Texas.

Troy is a small city in northeastern Bell County, Texas, set along Interstate 35 about midway between Waco and Temple and within the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood metropolitan area. Its position on one of Texas's principal north-south freeways gives a town of roughly 2,400 people a reach that far exceeds its size, putting the jobs, shopping, and services of Temple, Waco, and the surrounding region within a short drive. The community took shape around a railway station after 1882, when the settlement of New Troy grew up alongside the tracks and eventually supplanted an earlier village of the same name two miles north on Elm Creek. That rail-and-farm origin is still legible in Troy's layout: a compact center near the tracks surrounded by open farmland and dispersed acreage. Through most of its history, Troy has been a small agricultural and bedroom community, its fortunes tied to the surrounding Bell County countryside and the corridor that runs past it. Today Troy reads as a quiet, family-centered place with a rural feel. Residents own most of the homes, and the pace of life is slower than in the nearby cities. The town's public schools, anchored by the Troy Independent School District, serve as a community hub, drawing families from Troy and the smaller surrounding settlements of Pendleton and Belfalls. For households, Troy's appeal is the combination of a country setting with exceptional highway convenience. Interstate 35 runs along the town's edge, making it a practical base for commuters to Temple, Waco, and points beyond, while the town itself retains the scale and character of a Central Texas small town rather than a suburban extension.
