Cypress is an unincorporated community in northwest Harris County, Texas, occupying a broad stretch of prairie and pine between the city of Houston and the Waller County line. The community grew up along the Houston and Texas Central Railway in the nineteenth century as a farming and lumber settlement, and its name reflects the cypress trees that once lined Cypress Creek.
